Our daughter, sister and friend, Jessie was involved in a horrible accident on Thursday, September 29th on Piney Grove Rd in Columbia, SC. Jessie was traveling on Piney Grove Rd to class when a tree fell onto her car, knocking her unconscious and eventually leading to her crashing into another tree.

Jessie had to be cut out of her car and transported to the trauma unit at Prisma Health Richland Memorial Hospital. Jessie has a broken neck, broken jaw and fractures in her thoracic area, which have resulted in a permanent rod being placed in her neck, leaving her with limited mobility. She will undergo surgery to repair her jaw, resulting in her mouth being wired shut.

Prior to this horrible accident, Jessie was a vibrant and fun-loving 29 year old that was in school to be an occupational therapist in conjunction with her Health Science degree that she received from Claflin University. Jessie was also working with a local homecare agency as the area office manager and as a massage therapist with a local massage company.

Jessie has a long recovery road ahead of her with therapy and rehabilitation back to health. This incident has stopped her from working and doing many of her day-to-day tasks/activities prior to this accident. Jessie will definitely need assistance with the mounds of medical bills, therapy, medication, and so much more.

This was something Jessie nor any of us ever expected to encounter, but we believe and have all faith that Jessie will recover and be healed.
