Heidi's road to recovery
Donation protected
Heidi was diagnosed with a tumor in her brain early Sunday morning (09/03/17). She has been suffering from severe neck pain and migraines for 3 moths but was told it was whiplash and to do physical therapy. While visiting family in Pocatello from Twin Falls her family immediately knew something was wrong. Especially her younger sister Katrina who was the one who brought her to the ER at 3am. After an MRI and a Catscan a tumor was revealed in her Cerebellum as well as CSF fluid being blocked in her 4th Ventricle causing hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain). This caused inflammation and swelling thus resulting in decreased motor, neurological function and extreme pressure spikes in pain and headaches. Immediately the doctors made plans to send her to the University of Utah for surgery by life flight. However she ended up riding ground ambulance due to cost with her mother Sally to Utah followed by her family. Currently her two daughters LoAve and Kenisha, grandchildren Boston, Aurora, and Avelyn, niece Kylee, father Richard, step mother Georgia, mother Sally, and sister Katrina who are all staying in hotels. they are by her side through this difficult journey. Once in Utah an angiogram was preformed to better reveal the problem. Surgery was scheduled at 7 am Sunday only to be postponed due to another trauma until 4 pm. After 5 hours of surgery. Heidi woke up in shivering pain a 10/10 pain in a fetal position. when her sister arrived to the room she commanded pain meds warm blankets and constant aid to immediately and effectively decrease her pain and symptoms. Katrina is a perioperative skilled in critical and acute care. She is advocating for her sister to get the pain under control, and the proper resources to be executed in a timely and efficient manor to care for her Big sister. The doctors revealed a full resection of the tumor with good margins and no complications during the brain surgery. She had a good night however the pain is returning as expected by the doctors. Heidi along with her family are very optimistic and know that the pain she is experiencing right now is the beginning of a long road to recovery! Heidi and her family will be accruing tons of costs and she will need continued rehab and care to heal properly. We are asking for donations thoughts and prayers of healing during this difficult time. Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
