Help Jasper Walk Again
Donation protected

Hi everyone, my name is Allison and I am asking for help to pay for Jaspers vet bills. Last night (05/17/2023) my boyfriend Ian and I were walking our dogs Duke and Jasper after dinner. We started running and playing in an open field when Jasper decided to jump in front of Duke and Ian. Unfortunately there was no time for them to react and accidentally tumbled over him, which broke his front left ankle. We immediately took him to the emergency vet where they put him on some painkillers and kept him over night to keep an eye on him and keep him comfortable. Today (05/18/2023) they will be doing surgery to put a plate and screws in his leg/ankle. The surgeon is confident that Jasper will make a full recovery after the surgery and 8 weeks of rest.
So far the cost of this is already close to $8,000 upfront which was most of our savings. There will be additional cost bringing him back for bandage changes, check ups, and X-rays.
If you know Ian and I you already know that we treat our dogs like our children and we will do anything for them. You probably also know how energetic and loving Jasper is. Trying to keep him from running, jumping, and playing these next few weeks will be difficult because that’s everything Jasper loves to do. I am never one to ask people for much, but this one time I’m asking my friends and family to please help us even if it is as little as one dollar. Thank you guys so much and I will post updates as we have them!
(5/19/2023) UPDATE: Jaspers surgery went well! He is on multiple pain medications and has been very sleepy. He is finally home and excited to be reunited with his brother Duke who is immediately by his side to take naps! We have an appointment scheduled for next Wednesday to get his bandage/cast changed and check on, and will be making another appointment for the following week to hopefully get stitches removed. From there he will slowly be able to start walking again and we will have to go back a couple weeks after to get X-Rays and make sure everything is healing okay. I seriously can’t thank everyone enough for your support durning this, it means so much to Ian and I that we have such amazing people in our lives that are willing to help us! Will keep updates coming, for now nap time for us!
(05/25/23) Update 2: Yesterday Ian took Jasper to his vet appointment where they changed his bandage and looked at how his leg was healing. They said Jasper is doing great, his leg seems to be healing quickly! He will have one more week with the new bandage on. When they take it off next week they will also be taking out his stitches. Unfortunately for our little ball of energy he is still on bed rest for another 6-7 weeks. Ian and I have been astonished by the generosity of our friends and family who have helped us through this process and truly thankful for everyone who has donated! ❤️
UPDATE 3- Jasper got his bandage/cast taken off on Wednesday May 31st! He was doing great and the vet said he was healing well. He is still on bed rest and limited activity to ensure everything continues to heal correctly. He was doing really well without the cast! However due to the thunderstorms that we’ve been having lately Jasper has been very anxious which led him to jumping around in his kennel and exerting himself. Because of that he started limping even more than usual and not wanting to walk on his leg. So of course I called the vet and told them what was going on, they refilled both his pain and anxiety medicine. Yet another cost/bill for the medicine. We obviously don’t want Jasper to be uncomfortable or in pain so we paid for it.
Again we are so very grateful for everyone who has been so generous to us and our little family! Please keep sharing so that we can reach our goal and pay off the vet bills! Jasper is not quite ready to walk or run yet but he will get there with time, rest, and lots of love!
