Lucky is estimated to be about 4 years old, medium size, and unaltered. He was not skinny or dehydrated when he was found, and his temperament was very humble and he wanted to be rescued.
The tops of his rear paws were scraped to the point he could not walk on them, down to the bone in some spots. It appears he fell out of a moving vehicle and sustained dragging injuries, he has not been inquired about from an owner. Many superficial scrapes on his head and snout and his front paws. He has been sedated and his wounds debrided. No signs of internal bleeding, no broken bones, but all of his back nails are gone and may have to have two toes amputated. He is doing well and has started high doses of antibiotics to ward off the inevitable infection to come. Provided the wounds stay clean and he can get through the next few days without any complications he should recovery with minimal handicaps. He is a healthy strong dog so everyone is hopeful. I am working with Green River Animal Control and the Moab Humane Society to start a fundraiser to pay for Lucky's medical cost.
Please donate if you can! Lucky is under the medical care of Dr. mulligan at Moab Vet Clinic in Moab, UT.
Any money raised above the medical costs will be put in a “lucky fund” to help cover emergency costs to rescue stray animals hurt or abandoned on the interstate and our small community.
