Ellis is a West Coast truck driver. He had a massive stroke on Jan 10th while in Las Cruses, NM and went into the hospital there. His throat muscles were affected and caused aspiration leading to ICU treatment. After a week of ICU, and 3 weeks in the hospital he was ready for discharge to a inpatient medical rehabilitation center. Insurance denied our claim for medical transport as location was not a concern to them. We wanted to get him home to start rehab. That was no longer an option. He is on a feeding tube, as the muscles in his throat are healing, and on oxygen (after aspiration and 2 rounds of pneumonia) and can't walk. He has been in rehabilitation in Las Cruses, NM for 3 weeks and has a discharge date of March 13th. On March 13th, he was transferred to a nursing home in Las Cruses, NM; for continued rehabilitation until he can travel. We are trying to raise enough money for the medical transport which is the safest way to get him back to NC. If you find it in your hearts to donate, we will forever be grateful. Please keep him and our family in your prayers. Medical Transport from Las Cruses NM to N.C. Air ambulance quotes we have received to move him back to NC have ranged from $19,000-27,000
