If you know our brother Jeff, you love our brother Jeff. He is the perfect combination of funny, kind, and loyal. He is also proud and stubborn (I'll get to that part later).
With a heavy heart, we share that earlier this month, Jeff received a serious cancer diagnosis. Jeff was told that he has stomach cancer, and as you can imagine, this is a tough time for Jeff, his wife Susan, and their two children. With the three words "you have cancer," their lives have been turned upside down. Jeff and his family are processing this news and preparing to face this incredibly challenging journey.
As you may know, Jeff and Susan work together to run a small business, and due to the illness and necessary treatments, Jeff and quite possibly Susan will be unable to work for quite some time.
Although Jeff does have health insurance, it will cover only a portion of medical costs, and Jeff will be responsible for the remaining balance. Chemotherapy/immunotherapy alone can cost upwards of $200,000 (this cost does not even include multiple scans, his initial hospital stay, doctor's appointments, etc.).
Seeking a second opinion from Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York will involve out-of-network insurance costs, travel and lodging expenses, and childcare expenses while away. Being the most important people in Jeff's life, he will want to do anything possible to make this time more bearable for Jake and Caitlyn, including keeping their schedules and activities as close to normal as possible.
We would love to support Jeff and his family by removing any financial stressors during this difficult time. Jeff is proud, but he needs your help at this time. Please consider a donation, and please share this information with others who can help.
