Help The Thompsons

Hi all. We don’t want to be in this situation, but here we are. Our poor little girl is fighting with every bit she can. We were under the impression that things were trending upward, but after being sick for seven straight days, Lily is working her tail off to get through this. She is on a ventilator at this point in time and just so tired. This is an absolute nightmare for us.

At this point, we don’t know how long our stay will be in the PICU, but what we thought was a week or two may be much longer. After Lily moves from the PICU she must go up to another floor to make sure she can eat and breathe without too much assistance. Emergency travel back and forth is going to become a little taxing. With a confused three year old at home wondering where his family is, it’s even harder to leave.

We have been advised to keep Lily in home care once she makes it back to Chico due to the risk of getting sick again. This is to help her acclimate to being at home and build that immune system, so that we can send her to daycare once she is a little stronger. This presents us with a whole new set of problems. Lauren’s leave is up soon, and if her current employment doesn’t work with the new set of circumstances, I will be working for the both of us through the first of the year. We are completely in unknown territory and just trying to navigate what we can. If you find it in your heart to help us out, we would be forever thankful.
