Help for Carlos
Donation protected
Most of the property owners of Waterford know Carlos Diaz. They also know that Carlos is a hard working young man who, for the past several years, has helped many of us maintain our old houses and gardens. It seems that there’s no job that Carlos can’t do, and does well!
The Fire
At 1:00 am on Tuesday, October 27, a car driven by a drunk and occupied by three other drunks, crashed into Carlos’s truck, parked in front of his house in Winchester. The drunk’s car burst into flames and the heat from the burning car caught Carlos’s house on fire. All four perpetrators fled the scene and local police are now trying to locate them.
Thankfully, Carlos and his family were able to get out of the house quickly and they were not hurt.
The driver is the nephew of the car’s owner and did not have permission to use the car. It is questionable whether the owner’s insurance will cover the damages. Carlos’s truck was totaled and his home suffered a great deal of smoke damage. He does not have insurance on his house.
After the Fire
Carlos, his pregnant wife and their two little girls are temporarily living with a friend until their home can be repaired.
It’s obvious that without his truck, it is very difficult for Carlos to do his work, and difficult for him to transport the materials to repair his own home.
It’s critical that Carlos be able to replace his truck so that he can continue working and eventually rebuild his home. With his baby arriving in July, it’s important that his living situation be resolved as soon as possible.
How to Help
Our donation goal of $5,000 will help Carlos buy a used pickup truck and will provide necessary funds for him to buy materials to repair his home.
Please give thoughtful consideration to making a donation to help this young family recover from this terrible event.
