Georgia's Emergency Medical Fund

My dear friend Georgia was born without a valve that separates her stomach from her esophagus so in 1996 a surgeon went in and made a valve. In 2012 that surgery came undone her diaphragm ruptured and her stomach moved up in between her heart and lungs they had to go back in and move her stomach back down below her diaphragm and fix her diaphragm. That surgery was called a paraesophageal hiatal hernia repair redo it was supposed to be 5 hours but it turned out being 12 and a half hours the doctor admitted to lacerating her stomach and esophagus, but they did not admit to cutting the vagus nerve which caused the paralysis of Georgia's stomach and esophagus. As a result of the paralysis from the surgery in 2012 doctors removed Georgia's stomach in 2015. In December of 2016 Georgia lost the ability to even swallow pureed food so since January of 2017 she has been on liquid. She can swallow, however food stays in the esophagus and it just it doesn't go down anymore so since January of 2017. Georgia has lost an alarming amount of weight. She is extremely weak and malnourished. She cannot work, or enjoy everyday things (like eating) which most of us take for granted. Georgia applied for Social Security Disability and was denied. She is currently attempting to appeal the denial. Georgia had a port recently placed in her arm to administer antibiotics, anti-nausea medications and vitamin infusions to build her up in an effort to eventually get a feeding tube. The insurance company will not pay for a nurse to maintain the port, and want it removed. The situation is dire. By the time Georgia fully realized the consequences of her surgery, the statute of limitations had expired. At this point, hospice has been recommended. To hear one of the most positive, loving, beautiful people I know lose hope and talk about her giving up breaks my heart. Georgia would do anything for anyone who asked. We need to help her in any way possible. The only thing we can do I raise money for her to survive and pray social security will reverse their denial. Although Georgia's condition is irreversible and no amount of money can restore her quality of life I pray we raise enough to alleviate some of the stress Georgia is experiencing.
