If you haven't had an opportinty to meet Lacey you are really missing out as she is so special. Through all of her challenges, Lacey has never gave up, always has a smile on her face and never stops giving to others.
In 2011 Lacey lost her eyesight when she was only 13 years old. Lacey went for what she thought was a simple eye test. Lacey was then told that she had a brain tumor and it needed to be removed asap. After the surgery Lacey expected everything to go back to normal, but that wasn’t the case. The brain tumor damaged her pituitary gland,(anterior and posterior) leaving her with an illness called Panhypopituitarism which is a multiple pituitary hormone deficiency. This is a life-threatening medical condition. When extreme stress occurs, it can trigger what we call and adrenal crisis, where Lacey requires an emergency shot of hydrocortisone. Lacey must take medication daily which keeps her alive, it replaces the cortisol in her body so she can live a life as normal as she can. In 2017 Lacey was diagnosed with a reoccurring tumor which meant she would have to undergo this nightmare all over again. The past 5 years has been a serious rollercoaster for lacey, many tests and appointments, back and forth from south east Melbourne to the Royal Melbourne hospital and finally the time has come for ‘BoB’ to come out. On the 6th of October to be precise! Laceys goals after surgery is focusing on living life as she no longer wants to live in fear of what if!?
Any donation would mean the world to Lacey as it will help give her some financial freedom as she recovers from her surgery which could take anywhere between 3-5 months of recovery.
