Wednesday morning I noticed my dog Gizmo was unable to walk on his back right leg. after contacting multiple vets to try and get him checked out I was unable to make an appointment until the following morning. I left him in his crate before going to work to prevent his injury from becoming worse. upon returning home I noticed he was unable to use either of his rear legs. I rushed him to a 24/7 vet that's about 10 minutes from where I live. after his physical examination the vet deemed both of his rear legs paralyzed, most likely caused from IVDD (disk disease) which is common in these breeds. he's only 4 years old so this happening so suddenly was the last thing I expected. the surgery and MRI together was an estimated $7000, but was told by the Doctor that it would most likely be closer to $9000. this would give him a proper diagnosis and the treatment he needs. I unfortunately am unable to pay the full balance out of pocket and was approved for care credit, however for only a fraction of what his procedure would be. I took him home that night with multiple medications to give him. my girlfriend and I have kept him on strict crate rest and have been hand feeding him, helping him use the restroom as he cannot control his bladder or bowels, and exercising movement in his back legs.

I am starting this donation to hopefully raise enough to possibly raise enough to get Gizmo the surgery that would bebest for him.. otherwise my plan is to see how things progress over the next few days with the medications and at home therapy. we check every few hours for feeling in his rear legs and he has been responsive to the pain which the doctor says is a good sign. i've never made a go fund me before and was told by a few friends to start one.
