My name is Aubrianna Zelenak and I'll be 22 next month. My mom, Nancy Zelenak, adopted me just before my 17th birthday, having spent almost 6 years in Utah's foster care system.
In June (about 4 weeks ago) I was diagnosed with Stage II Malignant Meninginoma. It is technically classified as a 'brain tumor' though it is growing around my spinal cord. They are unable to remove it with surgery because of the delicate location (without risking paralysis or seizures as a result).
I'm participating in a 4 month chemo-radiation clinical trial to try to reduce the tumor. At the end of those four months they will retest to measure how much the tumor has decreased. If at the end of the four months the tumor has decreased, we will continue on with our current course of treatment. And if not, they will attempt surgery and other treatment options.
As a result of medical costs, I have moved back in with my mom, I've sold my Jeep and had to quit my job. Hopefully my acceptance into the Nursing Program at the Univ of Utah will not go to waste next spring.
All donations are appreciated. Funds will be spent on medical bills, living expenses and helping me rejoin the workforce and school once I beat this.
Thank you so very much for anything you are able to contribute.
