Help The Young Family Recover From Flooding

Hello my name is Adam MacIsaac & I am neighbors with Joey & Amanda Young.

 

Prince Edward Island is well known for supporting their neighbors & fellow Islanders, on the long weekend while many were celebrating Family/Islander Day the Young Family had lost their house due to excessive flooding.

 

 

 

 

On Febuary 18th 2022 there was excessive snow melting and flooding caused two sections of the Young's foundation to collapse. The excessive water flooded the basement both making the house unsafe to habitat & the small business which was located in the home to operate.

As the water kept flowing the basement filled with around 8 feet of water and was only a step away from flooding the whole main level of the house. Luckily no one was injured and Amanda and the two children were evacuated along with Whip their Jack Russell Terrier.

 

Amanda started a home based business as a hairdresser at the start of 2020. The local small business is also not able to opperate due to the damage to the house and the investment into starting up the business is of course held at a standstill as the income from the business.

 

 

 

 

So far there is no insurance coverage to help restore the damage caused by the water which has been an additional stress to an already stressful situation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The initial costs of rebuilding and restoring the damage to the house is unknown but certainly will not be a small undertaking to ensure that the Young Family can return to their regular lives.

 

Currently they have found temporary housing within the St. Peter's Bay community and their two children have returned to school to keep their routine as normal as possible.

Prince Edward Island is well known for supporting their neighbors & fellow Islanders. For this to happen on a long weekend meant to celebrate both family & being Islanders it certainly is a major blow to be underhoused in the winter here on Prince Edward Island.
