Belfast Half Marathon for SWOT
Donation protected
This year Lucy McGurran, Pierce Finnegan, Georgina Cook and Jenny Wilson are running the Belfast Half Marathon on the 22nd September for SWOT. SWOT is a medical student-led charity which stands for ‘Students Working Overseas Trust’. QUB students organise various events every year; including the iconic SWOT fashion show, blood pressure clinics, and sporting events.
SWOT's mission is impactful; the money raised directly supports low-resourced hospitals in various countries. This July, 4th years will be going to various countries including Malawi, Peru, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and many more. Fourth-year students undertake 4-5 week clinical attachments in urban and rural hospitals. These hospitals identify areas of need and receive direct support from SWOT funds, bypassing the ‘middle man’ and ensuring that every penny makes a difference. Last year, students provided essential equipment such as ECG machines, stethoscopes, and oxygen cylinders, along with sanitation and hygiene products.
Any donations big or small are appreciated!
Thank you,
Lucy, Pierce, Georgina and Jenny
