Hi, we are Mark and Whitni DeToro, and we are raising funds on behalf of our friends Sarah Piner (mother of Ayden Graff) and Eddie Piner (step-father, Fleming Island wrestling coach) whose family was struck with tragedy Sunday morning, Sept 1, 2024. Funds will be used for medical bills and long term care as needed.
On a day that began with joy and anticipation, tragedy struck the Piner & Graff family. Sarah, her son Ayden, and his girlfriend were on their way to Gainesville, looking forward to a day of thrifting at a favorite thrifting spot. But in an instant, their lives were forever changed when a reckless driver, excessively speeding in the wrong direction, collided head-on with their car.
Ayden, a bright and beloved senior at Keystone Heights, lost his life in this devastating accident. He was a Senior, set to graduate this year, a milestone he and his family had been eagerly awaiting. Ayden was a joy to everyone who knew him—a kind-hearted young man who loved his family, cherished his cousins, and brought a smile to everyone he met. He worked at Winn Dixie, where his warmth and positivity were felt by all. He loved animals and aspired to be a Veterinarian.
His mother, Sarah, a dedicated employee at Keystone Elementary, is now facing unimaginable grief, having lost both of her sons. A few years ago, she mourned the loss of her younger son, and now, she faces the heartbreaking reality of losing Ayden too.
In addition to the emotional toll, Sarah is enduring significant physical pain. She sustained severe injuries in the accident, including a shattered ankle, a broken femur, internal bleeding, and has already undergone multiple surgeries with others planned. Her road to recovery will be long and arduous, encompassing not only the physical challenges but also the immense emotional and mental healing needed after such a profound loss.
We are coming together as a community to support Sarah & Eddie during this incredibly difficult time. The funds raised will go towards her medical expenses, ongoing care, and helping her rebuild her life in the wake of this tragedy. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference and show them that they are not alone—they have a community standing with them, ready to offer love, support, and hope.
