Fatal crash leaves 10 year old in need

Donation protected

On Wednesday, December 19th,  there was a fatal car crash involving 4 passengers. Of the passengers, one was my half-brother, John Mill and another his mom. His mother has passed. When My brother (who has autism) reached people they contacted the cops. Around 6 pm child services in Florida contacted my sister, Samantha Mill. Without hesitation she is boarding a plane today and flying to Florida to gain custody of our 10 year old brother. With no plan or thought, my sister selflessly accepted this huge responsibility. I am reaching out in a moment of need. I feel it is important to know a little more about my sister Samantha. She is a single mother to 3 children. Her oldest is Hayleigh. She took on the role as a step mom to Hayleigh at one, who is now 11. Then Hannah was born in 2010. Her youngest is Jacob, who is 5, more about him later. The past 2 years, Sam has been called Mom by Hayleigh. My sister has psysical custody of Hayleigh with time split between her and her father, as her mother has not been able to care for her. Regardless of splitting with their father, she cares for Hayleigh the same as her other children. My nephew, Jacob, has a severe Epilepsy diagnosis. The diagnosis came after a sudden seizure at his daycare in 2017. After multiple hospitalizations and trips to Boston Children’s Hospital, my sister is left with no cure, daily seizures, expensive medications and a constant battle with his school system to advocate for special needs schooling. His most recent stay was last week at BCH when a prescription of a generic brand was given instead of his normal name brand med, Onfi. The switch in meds caused him to be in a catatonic state of constant seizures that he would snap in and out of. My sister is still currently fighting with the insurance company over coverage. Life with Jacob is a daily struggle between advocating and expenses. My sister needs all the help she can get. I don’t know anyone more deserving. She works full time, often missing work between doctors visits and Jacob having to be picked up from school. With Samantha gaining custody of our brother, John, it will not only be a challenge but almost impossible to manage financially as well. John will need special education as well and more attention in many ways due to these tragic circumstances and being autistic. Please help. Christmas is coming... in the next few days we’ll be buying him clothes and presents. Also, if anyone is wondering, I don’t have any pictures of John because I have only seen him momentarily in the past 4 years. He’s had a very hard life, moving dozens of times. As soon as I have photos and updated information involving John, I will surely share that with you all.

Sincerely,
Holly Mill
