This is way out of my comfort zone. It’s really hard to me to ask for help (and let alone asking people for money), but it’s a sign of how dire the situation is. On February 6th, during the last rain storm, I found water and mud pooling in Macie’s room. What we were hoping was a small fix turned into a huge disaster. We thought the front planter overflowed and seeped into her room. That did happen but also we found a huge gaping hole under her window where the brick didn’t meet. Water has been coming in for who knows how long because water damage was found all along the whole side of her wall and into her closet. Since it is an outside wall, we had to take out all the drywall and insulation down to the studs. It was also found all across her floor and had to remove all her flooring. Well with water that has been there for an unknown amount of time comes with mold. They found a whole bunch of black mold throughout her wall. We are so incredibly blessed that she hasn’t gotten sick from it, but of course now with her premature lungs we had to do top level mold remediation. I’m not chancing anything. And that’s still just the beginning. We still have to demo the planter and side of the house because now it’s just the brick and we don’t want to deal with this again. So we are literally rebuilding the side of the house/her wall outside and in. We need to do new siding, sealing, drywall, and insulation just to be livable. Macie has been displaced into Wyatt’s room and them sharing a room has its challenges and can’t wait to get her back into her own space. The kicker with all of this…is that insurance won’t cover it because the water entered from outside the home. So we have to do this all out of pocket and we don’t have another choice. This doesn’t even cover half of the cost but any penny is helpful! Please don’t feel obligated, but always a firm believer in it can’t hurt to ask. Thank you for your consideration! -Mollie McKinnon
