Poppa Jim's Lands End to John O'Groats Challenge
Here I am again on my journey in support of Charlene's Project on my way from Lands End up to John O'Groats, uphill all the way. But I have good news which will spur me on as if the challenge wasn't bad enough - DICKIE HAS VOLUNTEERED TO JOIN ME!!!!! What a courageous gesture that is!!!! Not to mention I have a 6 week start on him, but I will show him that there's life in the old dog yet.
Do you want to join us in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Charlene's Project and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause which means so much to me.
More information about Charlene's Project: In 2009 Charlene Barr had to drop out of school because of failing health and being placed on the lung transplant list. On the very day she was told she would need a lung transplant to survive, she said she was going to build a school in Uganda. In 2010, before she died, Charlene witnessed that dream come true as the contract was signed to build a primary school. Today Charlene's Project, which she started, supports education, health and sports development in Uganda and is building Charlene Secondary School for the children from the 8 neighbouring primary schools the project supports.
"I loved Uganda and saw how little the children had. I want to make it possible for some children there to get an education.
That way my WAITING for a double lung transplant will have made their life better.
Thanks to everyone who has, and is supporting me in accomplishing my dream."
Charlene Barr: 16 October 2010. 14 days before she passed away
It started with one girl, confined to a bed, unable to go to school daring to dream...
