Request for Financial Assistance for a Family Member’s Cancer Treatment

Dear Family and Friends,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Ansie Wasserman, and I am reaching out with a heartfelt request. As many of you know, I have been battling cancer for the past four years, undergoing treatments in public hospitals.

Last Monday, my doctor informed me that I urgently need surgery due to my condition progressing to Stage 4. The cancer has spread, putting immense pressure on my bladder. A previous procedure placed a drain, but it is no longer effective as my kidneys are being affected. This surgery is necessary to insert two tubes and a catheter to relieve the pressure and prevent further complications.

Unfortunately, public hospitals in South Africa no longer perform this procedure, and it must be done in a private hospital. Due to ongoing medical expenses, I no longer have medical insurance and must pay the full amount upfront by Monday, February 17, 2025, for the surgery to take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Without this operation, my doctor has warned that I may face kidney failure in the near future.
