Darren's Major Spinal Surgery
Donation protected
Darren is going into hospital soon for major spinal surgery to fix an injury to two vertebrae discs in his neck.
He puts on a brave face, but this injury has been causing him crippling pain (sometimes as high as 9/10) and preventing him from working for the past 18 months.
This surgery is very invasive and risky - they will cut open his neck to fuse two discs, and replace a second one with a synthetic disc. Slight chance of permanent full body paralysis. Higher chance of damaged voice or some loss of use of arms. However, if all goes well, this will completely heal him.

To top it all off though, yesterday, a stolen car crashed into his beloved campervan and wrote it off while parked at Annas! He'd literally just finished getting it all set up the way he liked it, and now it's gone - no insurance.
Even without considering the van, he needs to pay another $8k to the surgeon, $2.5k to the assistant surgeon, $2k to the anaesthetist, and about $2k in hospital fees. He's got nearly $5k of that $14.5k, and that's just for the medical bills.
I've personally seen Darren do a lot for the people around him, including organising GoFundMe campaigns and raising tens of thousands of dollars for other friends of his who have been in need.
If you are in a position to do so, please dig deep and contribute to help Darren get through this.
Here is an explanation of the procedure in case you are curious - his injury requires a double disc fusion and one full disc replacement: https://www.doneurosurgery.com/acdf.html
