Hi, I’m Mar
Life has its challenges, but I’ve always found comfort in the little things—especially in the unconditional love of my furry companion, Maui.
On Monday something completely unexpected happened. Maui accidentally ate cat food, which might not sound dangerous—but for some dogs, especially those with sensitive digestive systems, it can be life-threatening.
Cat food is much higher in fat and protein than dog food, and Maui’s body simply couldn’t handle it. It triggered a severe case of gastric Torsion , which quickly escalated and caused internal complications. He was in intense pain, vomiting, and unable to keep anything down.
After rushing him to the emergency vet, the doctors told me that his state was critical and he needed immediate surgery to remove the blockage and reduce the inflammation in order to save his life or I would have to choose to end his life and suffering by authorizing an euthanasia.
Watching him suffer, not knowing if he would make it, broke my heart into a thousand pieces. He’s more than just a pet—he’s family, my other child and as a parent I would never give up on trying to save his life no matter what, so of course I chose trying the surgery.
The good news is that Maui made it through the surgery. He’s fighting, and i doing everything i can to support his recovery. But now I’m facing vet bills that are incredibly overwhelming, and it’s more than I can manage on my own. I know Maui still has so much joy to bring into our lives—and to everyone who knows him. He’s already brought so many smiles and warm moments to the people around him. Please, help me give him a second chance to live, love, and keep making us smile. Every little bit helps, and even sharing this campaign means the world to me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, sharing, and supporting us through this painful time.
With love and gratitude,
Mar and Maui
