Arcata Police K9 Project
The Arcata Police Department, is proud to announce it is launching a fundraising campaign for the addition of a K9 unit to our department.
The Arcata Police Department recently retired K9 Bronko after six loyal years of service to the community and the Police Department. The current K-9, Zari, is eight years old and will be ready to retire soon.
The Arcata Police Department has had a K-9 Unit since the 1970’s. The K-9 Unit plays a vital role in the department. K-9’s are able to track and assist in the apprehension of criminals including violent offenders. K-9’s are able to search buildings and residences when alarms are triggered or when doors or windows are discovered to be unsecured. There is no doubt that K-9’s absolutely assist in saving lives.
The Arcata Police are currently attempting to fill the void left by the absence of K-9 Bronko. The Arcata Police Department strives to provide a high level of service in which the citizens and business stakeholders of their community have become accustomed to receiving. At this time the Arcata Police Department is appealing to the public's generosity in their efforts to provide the community with a new Police K-9.
Arcata's K9 unit is instrumental in helping prevent crime, apprehend suspects , protect our officers and is also a vital tool in strengthening the relationship between our police department and the community.
The Arcata Police Department would request any financial support that you would be able to provide to assist in the ongoing training and many of the necessities for the new canine. This includes an outdoor kennel, dog house, bulletproof vest ($2,400), collars, leashes, set up for the car cage, etc. Your generosity would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your time in considering this request.
