As I sit her today in this waiting room I was thinking of ways I could help my dear friend Ana Calderon. Ana is a single Mom that currently works three jobs just to make ends meet. Ana has battled breast cancer three times, had a double mastectomy and now is going to battle it again. Cancer was found in her liver and thyroid and today she is having the port placed to begin chemo next Thursday. Ana is having another procedure done today as well. She is getting kidney stones removed that got lodged in her Uriter tube. On our ride into Boulder Community I asked her how she was doing and the amount of stress she is under is overwhelming. The medical bills keep piling up and every time she turns around cancer has found a new place to reside in her body. She is a fighter! Her attitude today as they took her back to the OR was so positive! I asked her how she will manage the health costs and her answer was "once I feel better I will just get a fourth job" I looked at her with great pride and tears in my eyes. I know Ana is a hard working woman but she is too ill to get job #4. Ana also struggles asking for help. She is always the one offering to help.
