Richard Hanson needs your help

Richard has been struggling with chronic health issues for many years relating to his digestive tract, but these issues took a turn for the worse in early December 2020 when his gut started to lose function and reject virtually all foods. As a result, he has not been able to eat very much and has lost a lot of weight over the past month, and is now hovering around 47-48 kg. He is in a very desperate situation and has been unable to work, and has been on sick leave since the 10th of December. He is extremely gaunt and weak and hasn’t got the strength or energy to do much, and is resting and being cared for at home whilst trialling different medications. He has ups and downs, but even his good days at this point are just being able to eat a small amount of food without reacting. He was in hospital the week before Christmas and then again on New Years Eve for a variety of tests and procedures to determine what the problem is (both hospitals would not let him stay there for a longer period). He has been diagnosed with Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth and also chronic gut inflammation. He has recently started on some medications to kill off bacterial overgrowth and also to try and reduce the inflammation in his gut so it can hopefully start to heal and work properly again. Unfortunately, most of these medications are quite expensive, and are ongoing items, and we have had to also pay a variety of medical bills for hospital tests and treatment, doctors/specialist visits and various medical tests, some of which will be ongoing as well. He also needs some additional costly medical treatments such as Intravenous drips to supplement his body with vitamins and minerals that are lacking due to his very limited diet.

And that is why we are asking for your urgent financial help. Before this, we were already struggling financially due to Kylie's significant and ongoing medical bills over the last few years as she’s been battling her own major health crisis that caused her to be virtually bed-bound for over 2 years. Now due to Richard's health crisis our financial situation has been completely ruined. We have had to borrow a large amount of money from a family member over the past few weeks to pay for things, and that person has no more money left to help us. The stress from our current financial situation is an additional burden on us right now that we simply cannot handle on top of the distress of Richard's critical health issues.

We have never tried anything like Go Fund Me before, but we are desperate because Richard urgently needs all the help and treatment he can get. If his weight loss continues he will be in serious trouble. To literally be at the point where we could see some light at the end of the tunnel after many years of stress & trauma with Kylie’s sickness, just to be catapulted into another critical health episode has been completely mind numbing and overwhelming. There is treatment and hope out there but it requires money we don’t have. We urgently need your help. If you can only give a little we would still be very grateful.
