Hello. First, thank you for taking the time to read this and considering helping my brother in his time of need. Matt Brown, was involved in an incident on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 24th that left him unconscious and in the ICU for 8 long days. Matthew suffered severe head trauma, it was further discovered that he incurred 2 temporal fractures, a frontal lobe hemorrhage, subdural hematomas, and a blown eardrum. While the details from that night are still a bit cloudy, as his memory was also affected, we are pleased to report that there was no paralysis and his speech remains intact and for this, we are beyond grateful. After spending 2 weeks in the hospital, he was just recently discharged. He does however face several obstacles in the weeks and months ahead. During his healing, Matt will have to see a multitude of doctors, go through therapy and repeat testing and scans to track his progression. While Matt does carry a basic healthcare plan, this all comes at a time when he is unable to work, drive or even live alone. His equilibrium has been severely affected and he is dizzy, nauseous, and suffers crippling headaches daily. The sensitivity to light and sound, combined with the blown eardrum and pressure on the brain intensifies these side effects. As with any head trauma/brain injury, the healing time is unknown and varies with each individual patient. This is where you come in, if you could find it in your heart to help Matthew during this difficult time we would all greatly appreciate it. Matthew is currently a resident of Charlotte, NC where he manages Soul Gastro Pub restaurant. He was a 1998 graduate of Austintown Fitch HS and takes pride in his Youngstown heritage. His mother and close friends have been caring for him, while myself, my brother Greg, his sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephew do what we can from a distance.
