Hey All,
For those of you familiar with The Back Door, you probably know our barkeep Jake. He's one of the most kind, caring, helpful, unselfish, generous, genuine person around. He offers help any way that he can, whenever he can and never looks for anything in return. A bartender in our town can be a tough task to tackle on a day to day basis with all the different types of people that visit here and he always does it with a smile. On a Saturday night Jake was just doing his job when a group of people walked in from a wedding. Once it was clear these people had too much to drink, he offered to give them a ride home. As he borrowed a friend's car so he could take a few passengers to their hotel an altercation occurred between the people. When he went to break it up, one of them threw him around and tripped him from behind breaking his ankle and leading to a likely surgery. Jake hasn't updated his health insurance so it is not covered. Maybe, the person who did this will pay the medical expenses but we don't know how long that takes or how it works and also how long he will be out of work. As Jake's employer, we will do all that we can to offer Jake help through unemployment but can only do so much to help with the medical bills. Jake will be out of work for months and the bills could really add up with surgery involved. We ask if you know Jake, to help out and make sure he survives financially until he can get back on his feet (literally, Jake would like that one). We understand this is an ongoing investigation and could take years before any settlement happens. We please ask that you respect the purpose of this post and leave any negative comments towards the perpetrator out of it. Thank you for your time in reading this post whether you donate or not, we appreciate it.
