Jesse Delayo was more than just my cousin—he was a loving father, a devoted son, and a caring friend to many. Jesse faced many challenges in life, including being adopted as a baby and later reconnecting with our family. Despite the hardships, he always made an effort to be present for those he loved. He lived in the back house at my grandma’s, where he was found by my grandpa and sister on January 2, 2025, after struggling with heart problems and mental health issues. Jesse’s love for animals was clear to everyone who knew him, and he cared for several cats and dogs who were his constant companions.
Jesse’s greatest joy was his daughter, who is now 19. My grandma adopted her, and Jesse was determined to be a part of her life. He would walk her to school every morning, pick her up, and help my grandparents raise her, both emotionally and physically. Jesse’s kindness and willingness to help around the house made a lasting impact on our family and his friends. Sadly, my grandparents do not have the means to give Jesse the burial he deserves, and his daughter and our family are heartbroken by his loss.
We are raising funds to help bury Jesse on top of his father, provide his daughter with a peaceful place to visit him, and support my grandparents as they care for the animals Jesse left behind. Any support—whether through donations, sharing this fundraiser, or sending kind words—would mean so much to our family. Thank you for helping us honor Jesse’s memory and support his loved ones during this difficult time.
