Help Shayna See

My name is Heidi and my boyfriend and I run a business together in Downtown San Diego.
This is hard for me to do, but I feel like I am out of options right now.
Our girl doggie, Shayna, was born with a rare cataracts disorder that is very uncommon for her breed and age. I noticed a haze in her eyes within the first two weeks of getting her, but there was no way I was giving her back to the breeder because I was already smitten and felt a strong bond with her. Plus I wasn't sure what the breeder would do with her if I gave her back. If you look at her picture up close, you can see the haze in both eyes already at only three months old.
Shayna is my first dog. The puppy stage was hard enough for me considering I’d never had a puppy before. But raising a puppy who couldn’t see well brought on a whole new set of stress and problems. I was absolutely devastated and cried many nights not knowing what to do.
Her condition has been classified as “idiopathic” cataracts because it is not known why it develops so early in life. I have been giving her eye drops and medicine to try and slow the inevitable surgery she will need, but the regimen is just a temporary solution. The doctor recommends she have the surgery ASAP before it continues to get worse. Other problems are already developing - she now has a cyst on her left eye on the cataract, which if left untreated can be very painful.
Shayna just turned one year old on September 15th. She is extremely loving and loyal, full of energy and a very smart puppy. She means to the world to us.
I wish we had the means to help our little girl, but current struggles with our business are preventing us from moving forward with the surgery. The surgery will 100% get rid of the cataracts and she will be able see perfectly for the first time in her life. I can’t even imagine how much happier and confident she will be once she can finally see.
