Hello!

My name is Erin Delanty, and I'm from San Francisco, California, USA.

I'm organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my very good friend Qasem Waleed, who is currently based in Gaza. Qasem is a physicist, freelance journalist, and writer. His work has been published in Al Jazeera, Mondoweiss, among many others.

Qasem and his family have lived through two years of nonstop bombing and loss, ultimately losing their house and what remained of their belongings. He and his family are now displaced in a tent in the Al Mawasi area, the coastal area along Gaza's shoreline, west of the Gaza Strip.

As winter is knocking on the doors of Gaza, Qasem's primary goal in this fundraiser is to help his family rent an apartment, as he can't return to his area of residence because it is still under the Army's control.

The fundraiser will also help pay for Qasem's and his brother's university debts, as well as help him and the rest of his family buy warm clothes and blankets to protect against the cold.

***I will be responsible for making sure I show full transparency for all monies collected that will go fully and directly to Qasem. The funds will be used for housing costs, essentials such as food, clothing, blankets and the debt that he and his brother have to pay the university in order to have opportunities to apply for scholarships for work abroad, if granted.
