Completing this process not only means traveling to Xenia, but also staying in a hotel the required two weeks to attend an intensive 12 day long (12 hours per day!) Service Dog Handler training course. This is not only a requirement for all 4 Paws families, but is what we consider to be a best practice standard in ensuring that we know everything we need to know in order to help Jeffrey and his dog establish a safe and successful working relationship. During this time we will also be required to pass a "Public Access Test" to prove that both the dog, Jeffrey and us, as facilitators, can navigate appropriately in public spaces and to a level that meets the true standard befitting the title of a service dog.
We are establishing this GoFundMe page specifically to raise the funds needed to cover the costs incurred for travel, an extended stay, and the few incidentals related to the training course and any specialty items such as additional training gear/harnesses/vests that the dog may need.
If you do not feel comfortable donating via online platform but still wish to help with these expenses please reach out to us via email ([email redacted]) and we would be happy to accommodate other payment arrangements for you.
Thank you so much for all of the love and support that has gotten us to this exciting place in the journey to Jeffrey's service dog, and thank you for your consideration in assisting with the last little bit of funds needed!
