Hi Iam a friend of Harry and Theresa Hobbs.  Harry was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer in March of this year.  At the onset Harry and family were determined  to fight and proceeded with weeks of chemotherapy hoping it would gain some time with his wife of over 20 years, his 2 adult children and his first grandchild, who had not yet tuned one.  
Harry was doing pretty well with the chemo, it seemed the tumors in his lungs and liver were getting smaller.  A month ago he even was able to celebrate the wedding of his daughter and was able to walk her down the aisle.  Then just this last week he took a turn and started to decline rapidly.  He was hospitalized and was unable to recognize family or know where he was.  His wife Theresa had to make the devastating decision to end the fight and focus on loving and making the last moments of his life as comfortable as possible.  So they took him home  and called hospice to help them through the pain of this journey.  Just today, a little over a week from leaving the hospital, the hospice nurse sat with the family to break the news that Harry would be only with us now for a short time.  
As a friend of the family I was blessed to be there in that moment to support my dear friend.  However, after many tears and hugs, the conversation turned from the unimaginable pain to come to the unrelenting realities and financial worry ahead facing Theresa.  
Harry at 73, is some 20 years older than Theresa and has struggled with significant chronic health issues that made it impossible for him to get a life insurance policy to cover his funeral expenses or to help Theresa when she lost his income.  She won't be eligible for his social security survivor benefits until she reaches age 60, which is almost a10 year wait.  She will be losing approximately $23000 in annual income once Harry has passed.
This campaign is to help raise funds to assist with funeral expenses and to help Theresa and her family live after his passing.
Harry and Theresa's children and grandchild are living with them at this time.  Which is a blessing as they are near during this horrible time, but it also adds worry weight on Theresa's shoulders.  
Kara, her husband, and daughter moved back to them to save money so they could buy their own home and Adam is finishing his last year of college.  
Both Harry and Theresa have dedicated their lives to helping others.  Harry spent most of his life working in the public sector helping disadvantaged youth and Theresa still works full time helping the disabled and frail elders.  As a person that was always there to help others Harry would never have asked for this for himself but as a husband, father, and grandfather he would be extremely grateful for helping his beloved children and the love of his life.  Please help in any way you can.  Thank you!
