With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Michael Ray Worthy Jr.

April 5, 2025, is a day that changed our lives forever for the worst. My mother, Cherylanda Brown, received a devastating call that her only son, Michael Worthy (aka Mi Mike), had passed away unexpectedly at the age of 38. The details of his death are still unclear as we are still waiting for the autopsy report to come back.

If you knew Mike, he was full of life. He always had a smile and would always greet you with a great big hug accompanied by a firm handshake. The firm handshake let us all know he meant business. He also would eat you out of house and home if you let him. He loved to make you laugh and make jokes. My brother was the type of man to give you his last; if he didn’t have it, he would figure it out to make sure his family was good and he would worry about himself later. He loved his family so much, that’s one thing he never stopped doing. With no kids of his own, he was a very proud uncle to his only nephew, Ace. He loved us all, his grandma Nettie, his aunts and uncles all close in age, and a host of cousins, and would often take the kids to the store for candy runs and let them get whatever they wanted. He was a big kid at heart. A gentle giant.

We’re all really going to miss Mike so much. This is life-changing for us. This is something that has broken our hearts forever and healing from this will never be in question. He had so much more life to live and it was cut short. My mom’s only son, my only sibling from my mom. My first brother, my big brother.

Due to my brother’s death being unexpected, we are now left with the burden to make funeral arrangements and pay for funeral expenses including transporting his body back to his hometown Bakersfield, Ca. We would love to give him a proper Homegoing Service. We ask if you are able to donate or even share this post to support us in any way, we would greatly appreciate it. No donation is too small.

Please keep my family in prayer as well, as we continue to mourn the loss of Michael. He had a positive impact on a lot of our family, so it’s hard for all of us at this time.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted" (Matthew 5:4)
