Emma’s Recovery
Donation protected
Update: Emma had an exploratory abdominal laparotomy and chemotherapy placed directly in her abdomen two weeks ago via major abdominal surgery. Pathology came back on the specimens collected during surgery and unfortunately, her cancer is back. Additionally, she is no longer on hospital insurance and will be forced to pay large amounts for her 18 weeks of chemo this time. We ask for your help for our sweet Emma, again. Thank you all for your help thus far.
Our sweet baby Emma has gone through months of pain, leading her to see her primary care provider who ordered imaging that showed a mass last week. She was at work as a nurse in the ER at Oak Hill Hospital when she found out and they quickly took care of her by ordering more imaging and scheduling surgery to remove what they believed was a cyst in her abdomen. Over the course of her stay at Oak Hill thus far, she has endured a one hour conscious sedation nephrostomy placement and a seven hour surgery to remove the watermelon sized mass which had consumed both ovaries, resulting in a complete hysterectomy. Her care team was able to remove the mass but found tiny spots throughout her abdomen that they could not remove. Emma is currently recovering well but we are waiting on pathology results to determine what the mass was and how to treat it. Emma has insurance coverage, but with a week long stay in the ICU so far, it is safe to say that the deductible and copay will be very expensive and Emma and Mitch’s PTO will be exhausted soon. We would like to help Emma and Mitchel cover the cost of both of them being out of work and still having bills to pay, on top of the cost of the care needed to keep Emma safe and comfortable during this grueling battle. Anything helps and please do not feel obligated. We have had many people ask how they can help.
