On September 3rd, 2024 my father David and mother Kelly rushed my father to Yale Guilford ER for severe chest pains and heart attack symptoms. Shortly after arriving there many tests were conducted like EKG, Blood work and a chest Xray to figure out why he was having chest pains. While there, his heart went into Afib, his pulse reaching 160 beats per minute. After hours of waiting there the doctor gave us the news we all feared. She was very concerned with the many EKG's that were taken and he needed to be transported to Yale new haven cardiology floor immediately. She suspected a divination, in other words, a block somewhere in the heart causing Ischemia. My fathers heart was not getting enough blood and oxygen. My father got transported to YNHH to see the Cardiologist team and decided what the next steps are.
On 9/4/24 in the early hours of the morning, my father was taken back for a heart procedure which took about 2.5 hours. By the grace of God, we saw him being wheeled back onto the floor. My mom received a phone call at the same time from the Surgeon and informed us of the findings while in surgery. To our surprise, my dad did in fact have Myocardial Infarction also known as heart attack. A large stent was placed in the LAD (left anterior descending artery is the largest coronary artery that supplies blood to the front of the heart, including the left ventricle and the septum) His LAD was 95% blocked. My father just missed the percentage of open heart surgery. We all had a learning experience about the largest coronary artery. Having a stent in the heart means being on medications for the rest of your life to maintain it. My father is on two very critical heart meds, baby aspirin, blood pressure, cholesterol and an inhaler. Unfortunately, insurance is not covering 3 out of 5 of those medications. The anesthesiologist at Yale explained in great detail if these medications are not taken like clock work every single day, the stent can fail and he can have a massive heart attack or death. Along with the life long medications he has to be on, he now has to see Yale Cardiology, Yale pulmonology, and PCP.
About David:
My father is a young 47 year old man who is active, has worked in construction for over 30 years. In his line of work it requires heavy lifting, building, etc. which is being restricted right now per doctors orders. Due to my dad now having to be out of work for a little while and my father being the main provider for the household, my mom has to now take on all the monthly bills on her own while looking after my father and all of his important doctors appointments. If anyone knows my father, you know he is a man who would give his shirt off his back to help someone in need( quite literally have actually done this for many), always gives back, and he is a dedicated hard working provider for his family. In my dad’s free time he is an outdoors man, fishing, hunting, making memories with his family and their German Shepherd, Timber. He's going to kill me that i am making this fundraiser in the first place because he rather struggle than to ever ask for help, never mind the public for help. We are raising funds so he can take his time to get back to work as he is still not feeling well, and to afford his heart medications which are not covered by insurance. No one was prepared for my father at this age to have a heart attack so suddenly. We want to thank everyone who came to visit him in the hospital and all of the calls and texts. We truly appreciate anything to help my father get back on his feet to support himself and family. All funds will go directly to him.
God bless you all and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!❤️
