Hi, my name is Danika Williams and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a hopeful spirit.

My dog, Shadow, recently tore her cruciate ligament, which now requires knee surgery to help her walk and play again without pain. The estimated cost of surgery is around $6,000, not including medications and travel expenses from Yellowknife to Calgary.

I adopted Shadow from the SPCA years ago, and she has been such a loving, loyal, and joyful part of our little family ever since. She’s not just a pet — she’s family. Shadow has been with me through thick and thin, and she deserves a chance to heal and live without pain.

It’s not easy for me to ask for help, especially publicly. As a single parent living on one income, I do my best to make ends meet, but the cost of this unexpected surgery is just too much for us to manage alone — especially with the rising cost of rent and daily living.

Shadow has been missing her long walks, playtime with her doggy friends, and just being her happy, active self. Right now, she’s in discomfort, and it breaks my heart to see her like this.
