On December 10th, 2019, the day of our birthday, my twin sister, Celeste Minick Donechie, was in a tragic car accident. Celeste does not remember any details of the accident. All details posted here are a compilation of information provided by witnesses. Weather conditions consisted of heavy rain and dense fog. Witnesses stated her Volkswagen Beetle rolled off a mountain side hitting a fence, sending her through the ground floor of a cabin home. She then went out the back of the home flipping several times - hitting an empty propane tank, a tree, and ending up in a ravine on its side. The car was full of 8x8 timbers from the cabin. Celeste had severe head trauma and was unresponsive. When police arrived, a retired EMT was administering chest compressions. Celeste was revived, on a respirator and in and out of consciousness. She immediately went into surgery to repair large deep lacerations to her face and neck. She was revived again during surgery. She remained in the Trauma ICU & Telemetry Unit in critical, but stable condition for 16 days. The surgeons agreed the required reconstruction surgery was beyond their scope of expertise. Celeste's skull fractures are extensive; her nose and cheeks bones were crushed! They are assembling an ENT team to head up the surgery and will bring in cranial maxillofacial, oral, and ophthalmologist surgeons as needed. The surgeons and first responders have all expressed that her survival is a miracle! She has multiple fractures in both cheeks, her jaw and right eye socket are displaced, her eye lid will have to come off and be reattached so it will close completely. Due to the complexity, the surgeries will have to be done in multiple stages. She has been sent to a Trauma 1 Center with state-of-the-art equipment for these restorations. Her first bill for three days of medical treatment exceeded $143,000! She has a long road ahead! Her surgeries alone will exceed $50,000. We are asking for your help in donating towards her medical expenses & recovery process. She will be out of work for several months and her car was totaled; worse than that, Celeste has no health insurance. Please keep Celeste in your prayers and share her GoFundMe. OUR FAMILY IS ASKING FOR PRIVACY DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME. God Bless!
