Our husband and dad, aged 39, suffered a severe heart attack on Wednesday 15th October.
Dhanesh said to me (Krishna (spiritual name) /Kim) on Wednesday morning he had a bit of chest pain and wasn’t feeling too well. He wanted to try rest and see if he could sleep it off. I was at work, 30 mins away, and waited a short time -15mins- before really feeling that something wasn’t right. I decided to come home and then I was there if anything was to happen. Dhanesh being him, said he still just wanted to rest for a bit longer, although I suggested/inststed we should go to the hospital. A couple hours later, he agreed to go and be checked, emphasising that something didn’t seem right. Dhanesh has type 1 diabetes also so he thought it was possible something to do with that and that he could just rest it off. We arrived at the Emergency Department and within 10minutes he had collapsed and went into a cardiac arrest. It was traumatic to witness for our children and myself. We were very lucky to be in the right place at the right time, with the best professional specialists, doctors and nurses around to bring him back to life. Their swift response and action, they were able to locate the blockage in his heart and clear it and place a stent in. Literally life saving.
Dhanesh is currently in an induced coma in the Intensive critical care unit at the Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide. It is a juggle navigating this with our children (Govinda, 9 and Radha, 5), to be present at the hospital by his side and also give time for and with the kids. The children are really missing their dad and just wanted to be able to talk to him and him talk back.
As Dhanesh runs a home online business and I work casually, our income is now reduced dramatically and we are seeking any support financially to assist with rent, and bills, along with car parking fees at the hospital at this point in time. Any amount will be of support and will help to take the financial stress away during this difficult time.
We are still in the early days, but his recovery is going to be slow and long.
Although children as quite resilient, they are still feeling the ups and downs of emotions and desperately want their dad home and well again.
Thank you for the bottom of our hearts. Any love, wishes, prayers and support is more than appreciated.
I will aim to update when I can, and when changing updates are available to me which is not every day.
