A Memorial Gift for Tweety & the Eastland Family for Christmas
This Christmas, we want to come together as Camp Mystic alumni to give a gift that will last a lifetime. Many of us have been deeply moved by the legacy of Dick Eastland—his kindness, his laughter, and his enduring love for Camp Mystic. His sudden passing in the floods left the Eastland family with an immeasurable loss, and our hearts have ached to do something truly meaningful for Tweety and her family.
Over the past few months, I have personally collected more than 100+ alumni hand-written letters to Tweety, sharing favorite memories of Dick and the impact he and Camp Mystic had on our lives. I am compiling scans of these into a beautiful book, and many of the original letters will also be incorporated directly into this memorial painting—so his love and legacy will live on in both words and images!

The Painting
We are commissioning an extraordinary artist and dear friend, Jamie Wells, to create a large and refined painting. Jamie will layer the letters and meaningful memorabilia into a flat-lay style composition, cover it with resin for a glass-like finish, and then paint a detailed portrait of Dick and Tweety over the top.
The result will be a striking 48x60 inch painting that combines our words, our memories, and Jamie’s artistry into a single, timeless tribute.
A piece Tweety can hang in her home forever—where Dick’s smiling face and the legacy of his love for people, especially Mystic campers and counselors, will be remembered for generations.

How You Can Help
We are asking Camp Mystic alumni to join together in funding this memorial gift. Your donation will cover the cost of commissioning the painting, including materials, resin, and shipping and delivery, and the cost of scanning over 100 letters and printing them in a formal book through Artifact Uprising. We will package the book and the painting together to deliver to Tweety before Christmas.
Goal: $9500
Deadline: October 18th 2025 (so that we can finish this painting and book and have them delivered to Tweety in time for Christmas)
Every dollar matters, and every gift—whether large or small—will be part of this once-in-a-lifetime tribute!
Why This Matters
This is more than just a painting. It is a legacy piece that carries the love of Dick and Tweety’s community, and reminds them they are not alone in this season of trial. It is a visual reminder of Dick's kindness and generational impact at Camp Mystic that will NEVER be forgotten. It is a tangible way for alumni to say “thank you” and give back to a family who has given us so much!
Together, as a Mystic family, we can give Tweety something that words alone cannot—an enduring reminder of the love that surrounds her and of the man who left such a mark on all our lives.
