Mom's Fight

My mom has always been a super strong, independent and reserved women. She has always put the feelings of other's ahead of her own and never complained about it. She is the reason we take our falls as obstacles we're meant to encounter so that we become that much stronger.

The day my mom was diagnosed with Colon Cancer we felt broken and helpless. We instantly thought about life without her while she made jokes about losing her hair due to chemo. From the day she was told it was cancer she has continued to move forward. There are days I can see the sadness behind the smile and I know it's not because this disease is getting the best of her but because she wants so bad to enjoy life without the though of cancer in the back of her head.

It's been an emotional roller coaster ride for the last 4 months but she is finally set to have surgery on Thursday the 15th. She will be off work for 6 weeks without pay because while she was on chemo she was talking time of due to the side effects. She will have to pay for Cobra Insurance out of pocket and I want to make sure finances are not something she has to worry about while she recovers. My mom is a fighter and throughout this process I've learned just what it means to be strong because it's your only option.
