49 YEAR OLD US NAVY VETERAN FIGHTING COVID19

In the beginning of May 2020, my Aunt, Deanna Bennett, her 20 year old son, and her 67 year old sister, for whom Deanna is the full time caregiver, were all diagnosed with COVID 19. Fortunately, they all had mild symptoms and have since recovered.

However, my uncle, Roger Bennett Sr, Deanna’s husband of 29 years has not fared so well. He is currently in critical condition, with COVID 19 at Kettering Sycamore Hospital in Miamisburg, OH. For over 3 weeks, Roger has required ventilator support. As a result of the virus, Roger also has a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in his lung), and has had other setbacks including two hospital acquired infections that he is still battling. Prior to the virus, Roger was a vital, healthy 49 year old man working to provide for his family.

Roger has been the foundation of the Bennett family for 29 years, and is a Veteran of the US Navy, serving aboard the USS Reid, in the Persian Gulf war. Just as the Navy recognized his leadership and strong character, Roger has carried these attributes to his current role as husband and father. Although it cannot be certain where Roger acquired the virus, there are four other people who tested positive at Roger's worksite.

This fundraiser has been established to help ease the burden on Roger's family, so that the family can focus all their efforts on his treatment, healing, and hopefully his eventual return home. If we can help alleviate some of the day-to-day financial pressures that have mounted during this time of critical care, we too will have done our part to support them in a time of sincere need.
