Help Me Get Back On My Feet

Donation protected
Normally, I give to GoFundMe projects. I never thought I'd have to do one for myself.

I'll be honest; it's just been a rough year. My father died last year, and since his death, I've been trying to get his VA survivor pension for my mother. Because of red tape, it's been denied, and it's currently on appeal. I have no control when we find out; all I know is it's taking longer than expected.

I haven’t found a job, and money is tight. I’ve applied to so many places I’ve lost track. Because of my learning disabilities, I can’t just get a job at McDonald’s or Target; if I stand too long, I risk fainting, plus I can’t handle too much background noise. I can’t take Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) because I have too good a work history. I am proud of this fact because I’ve always worked hard. I’ve applied to several employment agencies and am waiting to hear back. Four months ago, I started writing the Friday Edition on my Substack newsletter and made it paid after a week because I needed money coming in. Some has come in (and the person reading this, thank you so much), but the past three months have been really hard.

I had a nasty dental infection, and I am still paying the ER bill for that. Because of confusion, an ambulance was called, and because it was “out of network,” it cost $2800. I had dizzy spells earlier this year, so it required me to go to see a cardiologist, and that ran up a bill as well. I’ve tried to save money. I let subscriptions go. I downgraded some things. But life has been really lifey. It’s something I can’t control. I've decided to trust the universe and hope that maybe something good could happen.

I know my problems are small compared to so many. It's the little things that add up. Bus fare, groceries, bills. It’s the holiday season, so I ask you all this: I just need help overcoming these bad times. Donations would be used to pay off medical bills and groceries and would help a lot until I'm more financially secure.
If you want to subscribe to my Substack Newsletter and upgrade to paying, it would help a lot. I might have to take December off to take care of personal matters, but come January, I’ll write two essays a week again on the news, books, movies, TV, and life. If you can’t subscribe, you can buy me a cup of coffee on Ko-Fi. Or, if you want to buy books for Christmas, you can buy them from my storefront on Bookshop.org.If you can’t swing that, and man, I get it, feel free to send me good thoughts, job leads, or recommend me to an editor, website, etc. I'll include the links below:

This is all temporary. I'm hoping 2024 will be better and turn everything around. I promise you I will pay this forward when I am back on my feet. I just need help doing so.
