Taking Learning to Children
Donation protected
Our mission is to raise money and provide underprivileged children in India with tools for online learning given the current global health crisis. We have partnered with Sarva Shiksha Kerala, a government program focused on universalizing primary education in the state of Kerala, India. The Kerala government began online classes on June 1 in an effort to ensure that they don't miss out on school due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Though the decision received wide appreciation, Sarva Shiksha was quick to realize that there was an uneven distribution of online learning tools. A survey by the Samagra Shiksha Kerala, another government program focused on enhancing learning opportunities, says that roughly 261,000 kids in Kerala do not have access to online learning tools like computers and tv sets. In the first phase of this program, Sarva Shiksha and Samagra Shiksha worked to provide children with disabilities access to online educational tools in order to ensure that there is an inclusive environment. They hope that the next step will be to provide all underprivileged children with online learning tools as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to take its toll in Kerala.
