Hi there,

My name is Iryna. Some of you know my story, and some might wonder what this is all about.

I have lived in the United States for 15 years now. But originally, I am from Kharkiv, Ukraine. I was born and lived there until I was 26. My family, or what's left of it - my mom, older sister, aunt, and cousins are still there. I also have a few friends there that are like my family. I might be American now, but my heart is still Ukrainian and always will be.

As you know, Ukraine has been attacked by Russia since Thursday, February 24th, 2022. Every day since, I have been worried about them all. Their lives have been turned upside down. Their homes are gone. Some were forced to flee their homes to start their lives, some chose to stay to fight for their land, and some were just not mobile or healthy enough to take the journey. Basically, they are trying to survive every day.

My heart bleeds every time I see a video or a picture or hear stories about what happens there every day and every night. I cannot even begin to imagine how scared and hurt they are as all I hear is "We are ok," "We are alive," "God is on our side," "We will get through it"...

I am trying to help my family and friends as much as possible, but I realize it is not enough. I see how much support has been pouring into Ukraine worldwide. They need essential items, food, medications. I just want to help at least directly to those I know personally - at least until the war is over and they can get back on their feet. It might be a long journey, so I need help to help them.

Because I have so many people asking me how they could help in this situation, I decided to put this out there, although I certainly have no expectations. I could never ask anyone for help in person as I know everyone is going through something, and I always try to figure it all out on my own. I also do not have any realistic goal for this funding as every dollar counts and helps, yet it might be an ongoing journey. So any small contribution will make a difference and be appreciated by my family, friends and me personally.
