Lorans and I always dreamt of having a large family. When we were dating we talked about having both biological children as well as one day having the honor to adopt. Our heart for adoption came from watching our parents care for and love children they did not birth as their own. The door to adoption was opened early in our marriage and we are so incredibly blessed by our princess. We were then blessed to grow our family two more times, but have since learned that door is closing. We are both fine with the reality of not having any more biological children, but neither of us feel our family is complete.
Recently, I was discussing this with another adoptive mom as we began to explore what this option would look like in the future. It was truly just a gathering phase, but God saw it differently. Fast forward two weeks and we were notified that there is a possibility that we could welcome a child into our home in the next month or so. To say we were shocked would be an understatement. But we decided to pursue this situation and see what God ultimately says.
This is where we need the help of our community. We both struggle to ask, but know without you this will not be possible. In the next few days we will know if the birth mother has chosenus to parent her child. If she does we will need to proceed with a home study and finalization of adoption. The cost of adoption is high and we did not expect to be here so soon. If you can find it in your heart to help us help a child we would greatly appreciate it.
