On behalf of the emergency room staff at Olean General Hospital, we would like to ask you to consider donating to the upcoming medical expenses for Jessica Hughes, a registered nurse that currently works in our department.
Last week, Jessica woke up with right-sided arm and facial weakness. An MRI performed later that day was highly suspicious for brain cancer, more specifically a low grade glioma. She will meet with a team in Pittsburgh with a plan to undergo a craniotomy with tumor resection within the next 3-4 weeks. She will have to remain awake during this procedure as the surgeon attempts to avoid removing any portion of her brain that may result in permanent deficits. The recovery for this sort of surgery is long, at least 6-8 weeks post-op before even discussing returning to work.
Jessica is a single mother of 4 children that works tirelessly as a registered nurse at Olean General Hospital in order to support herself and her children. She has a vibrant personality and has touched the lives of all the patients she has cared for over the course of her career. Please consider donating to this fund that will be used towards medical bills and any future expenses that may incur as she will be out of work and recovering. Jessica has given us permission to post updates as we have them.
Thank you all.
