Dads Fight

Hello Family and Friends. It has been a trying year for my family. Our dad has fought a strong battle. He had a full 2 year of Chemo and other treatments. Unfortunately, the VA told our family that there is no need to keep trying to fix his problem and to go home and “die”. Hospice has been started and the plan is for him to be as comfortable as possible. My father nor mother thought that was the right thing to do. They decided to get a second opinion and go to Akron City Hospital and fight for his life. The team brought him in with open arms and is currently offering him an additional aggressive approach. The treatment plan is 30 days in the hospital and Medicare is only covering 80% and our family is responsible for 20%.. He is a fighter, and with tons of prayers, he will progress in his health realistically. He has become accustom to receiving 6-8 blood transfusions a week, and recently told he has no immune system. He is on an Oncologist floor and quarantined as the treatment progresses. He has no White Blood Count and can’t see any visitors. The main goal is to get organized and make sure mom doesn’t have the burden of medical bills and is able to transition at a rate she can handle. If anyone knows my parents, they are one unit and this will be a terrible time for my family when my father is no longer suffering. As children of a proud and strong man, it has been terrible to watch the cruelness of cancer spread through his body. If you feel compelled to help out, our family and mother appreciate each and everything possible. My father also wanted to let everyone know that he truly appreciates all the calls, and support.
