Support Sam Through Elbow Recovery

Sam is a SW who has been out of work for a few months after shattering their elbow. This happened shortly after they had moved into a new, more expensive apartment, so being unable to work due to the combination of their severe injury and Covid has put them in a very precarious financial situation. It’s going to be at least six months before their elbow is healed enough for them to see clients without risking further, more permanent damage or having a client take advantage of their obvious injury. On top of all this, their car was broken into a few days ago and they’re also going to have to pay out of pocket to get it fixed.
We’re immediately looking to help cover the cost of the window ($200) and their rent/bills for this month (totaling around $1,250/month). We’re expecting it’s going to be dangerous for them to see clients for about the next six months while they recover from surgery and that it’s going to take some time to build up their client base again once they return to work so we’d like to pad their minimum living expenses a little to ease this transition period as well. They’re also going to have additional necessities like medication to worry about, so we’re aiming to raise around $10,000 altogether during their recovery.
Sam is also an artist, an activist who maintains highly necessary community space and a political advocate in local and national organizing spaces. We’re raising funds for them anonymously to avoid hurting their professional image while they need time off, but they’re a beloved member of our community who contributes a lot to other workers and we’d love to be able to bring everyone together to get them through this difficult time!
