As some of you may know my sister
Melissa Kane or many of you know her as
previously Melissa Daniels was diagnosed
with cancer of which she has Multiple
Myeloma this past summer. Multiple
Myeloma is cancer of the bone marrow,
immune system and the bones.
Melissa is a beautiful, selfless and strong
wife, mother to 3 beautiful young children
and step children, a loving daughter, sister
and great friend to many. Melissa has one
of the biggest hearts I know and always is
doing everything for everyone else before her own needs. Melissa had been having
back pain for some time and would push
through it continuing to care for her
children, continue her business and
working and even doing hair because
providing for her family is her top priority.
In June it came to a head when she awoke with excruciating pain from her neck all the way down her back and was not able to
hardly move. After being in the hospital for
two weeks and multiple tests it was
confirmed Melissa had a form of cancer
called multiple myeloma. The doctors stated
it is rare for a 39-year-old to have this form
of cancer. There is no cure for this cancer,
only treatments with the hope of going
into remission the doctors are very
optimistic with Melissa being young that
remission will be possible. My sister began her chemo treatments right away with
chemo injections and pills every week and sometimes having to get blood transfusions.
Melissa just had a bone marrow
(stem cell) transplant on Nov 5th, 2020 to
replace the bad cells with healthy ones.
She had a few setbacks from the transplant
but is now home but still weak and fatigued.
The doctors did say her numbers are going up so that is a good sign the transplant is
working. She will have ongoing outpatient
treatments over the next 6 months and
more depending on how the transplant
takes.
This has all been life changing for my sister and our family. The cancer came out of nowhere and has stripped her from everything she loves to do and it’s been very tough for her to
just do the simple things as her days now she
must stay at home and rest as the chemo
makes her ill, dehydrated and tired and due
to COVID she cannot be around
but mostly her husband and children as her
immune system is very low. Her husband
Doug has been there every step of the way as has my parents and taking care of her and the kids awhile her husband must still
provide for his family as my sister is unable to work anymore. Melissa does have a very big
support system helping her from family to
friends but with one income and
mounting medical bills and other family
needs it has been stressful for both Melissa
and her husband as to why we wanted to
start this to lessen any stress and burdens off of the both them so they can just focus on
Melissa’s treatment and recovery.
Multiple myeloma is a cancer that never
disappears, and Melissa will most likely
remain on chemo indefinitely. All Melissa
wants is to be here and live for her
children. Melissa is a woman of faith and
knows all things are possible through our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Melissa is a
fighter and though everyday is a challenge
right now we know GOD is a healer and we are praying for the day soon for her to go into
remission and no detectable cancer will be found in her. Melissa is staying strong and
positive and we ask for you to please
keep her in your prayers as it is a long
journey ahead, but we know she will beat
this and overcome.
***Any funds received will be used for
immediate financial need as for medical
bills, family necessities and any future
needs.****
**We ask if you would like to contact
Melissa directly or donate outside of the
go fund me or want to support her in other ways to please reach out to me her sister
Sherri Daniels or her uncle Mark Daniels
as she is still recovering from the transplant and we will make sure she receives it.
Our family and Melissa and her husband
thank you in advance for all your love,
prayers and support for Melissa.
We will provide updates as they come on
her progress ❤️❤️
