On December 8th, our Mom (Rosemary “Rose”) had surgery to remove a grade 2 tumor that has parasitized her brain stem. The surgeons removed 30-40% of the tumor before they detected that she was losing mobility on her left side and decided to conclude the surgery to avoid life threatening complications. Since then, she has been in the ICU due to further complications from the surgery. She has had to undergo three additional surgeries in a matter of two weeks, which included: a shunt to drain fluid from her brain, a tracheostomy, and a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube (feeding tube). Our Mom has a long road to recovery ahead. She will need intensive rehab to regain her ability to breathe without a ventilator, swallow, eat without a feeding tube, speak, and walk. Because the tumor was not fully removed, she will likely need to undergo radiation to possibly diminish the remnants of the tumor.
Our Mom is incredibly strong, resilient, and is holding on to her faith day after day. We are determined to get the best and sufficient care for her… to be able to walk with her again, to hear her voice again, to share meals with her again. We greatly appreciate contributions to help us with her medical expenses and to ensure she receives long term rehabilitation services.
With immense gratitude for your support,
Alyssa, Matthew, and Britney
