The Great Race

Donation protected
Faith Ponsonby (FEI dressage judge) and Tony Ennis (AIRC chairman) are to go head to head over a unique race later this month to raise funds for front line workers.

‘The Great Race’, as its been labeled, will take place on Sunday May 24th starting at 11.00 hrs where they will compete over a 5 kilometre distance at separate locations.

Faith Ponsonby, who will compete side-saddle, will race from her home near Mullinahone, Co. Tipperary and will be assisted by her husband Peter while Tony Ennis, who will wear light blue and yellow stars racing colours, will undertake the challenge from his home in Cloghmoyle near Shinrone, Co. Offaly.

The challenge was instigated by Tony during a phone conversation with Faith who was only delighted to take up the challenge.

Both are involved in many different equestrian organisations including the Association of Irish Riding Clubs and the Irish Pony Club and they want to salute the Health Service and all front line workers, many of whom are AIRC members who are keeping our country moving in these challenging times.

Proceeds of this race will go to the staff at St James Hospital Dublin, Tullamore Regional Hospital, Carlow Kilkenny Home Care, St Marys Nursing Home Mullingar and Ealga Lodge Nursing Home Shinrone.
